Back in the early 2000s there was an occurrence of people misselling ERS-210 and ERS-220s as their upgraded 'A' (Supercore) counterparts. As Supercore models have faster boot time and have guaranteed new design head clutch, they usually command a higher price on the resale market.
How does the scam work?
It all revolves around the holographic 'Supercore' sticker found on the underside of the aibo core. When you purchased an ERS-210A a spare 'Supercore' sticker was supplied in the box. People who were looking to scam would take these spare stickers and stick them onto a standard ERS-210 or ERS-220. Most people would not be able to tell they have been duped unless they checked the serial number - but by then it would be too late. :-(

How to spot a real Supercore
Real Supercore units will always have the 'A' designation in their name. This can be found on the box stickers as well as the serial number sticker in the battery bay of the aibo.

On the core, the Supercore sticker will always be accompanied by the later style Sony Corporation '2000-2002' sticker and never the 'Made in Japan' sticker. However do not go off this sign alone as some later produced ERS-210s and all 220s have this style sticker.
For ERS-210As, the Holiday Red, Holiday White, Cyber Blue and 'My Select' aibos are ALWAYS supercores.
Spring White, Spring Orange, Mazarin Green, Everest White and Sapphire Violet ERS-210s were never released as Supercores.
