Prototype briefly shown in the background of a Japanese TV documentary in 2017 about aibo's development. Images of the black ERS-1000 prototype was shown during the Aibo Fan Meeting Vol.3 event. It appears to have soft textured finish on its entire exterior, possibly flocking adhered onto the plastic shells and fabric over some parts (it’s hard to tell as the images online are low quality). The tail is long and stiff, sitting at an unnatural position, even when turned downwards. The overall shape bares a strong resemblance to the final ERS-1000 design, but with some aspects of the ERS-7 still present, such as the large black visor and how the aibo stands.
The ears are looped bits of fabric.
aiboファンミーティング Vol.3では、黒色のERS-1000プロトタイプの画像が公開されました。外装全体に柔らかな質感の仕上げが施されており、プラスチックシェルにはフロッキー加工が施され、一部には布地が使用されているようです（オンラインの画像は画質が悪いため、判別は困難です）。尻尾は長く硬く、下を向いても不自然な位置に留まっています。全体的な形状はERS-1000の最終デザインに非常に似ていますが、大きな黒いバイザーやaiboの立ち姿など、ERS-7の特徴もいくつか残っています。
