During my POIQ teardown and customization I decided I wanted to give this POIQ custom coloured eye rings. The POIQ's eyes are made up of 4 plastic pieces that act as diffusers for the LEDs behind them. Seeing as this POIQ only lights up the outer eye ring due to Sony's end of service, I wanted to give it a custom colour so it could at least stand out.

I made molds of the eye rings, but the little forked sections on each eye that grab onto the pegs to keep them in place kept coming out malformed. They are still usable if you glue them in place, but I ended up dyeing the original eye rings orange and reinstalling those.
I think if I was to make these eye rings again I would try injection molding them instead.
POIQの分解とカスタマイズ中に、このPOIQにカスタムカラーのアイリングを付けたいと思いました。POIQの目は4つのプラスチックパーツで構成されており、後ろのLEDを拡散させる役割を果たしています。ソニーのサービス終了により、このPOIQは外側のアイリングしか点灯しないため、せめて目立つようにカスタムカラーにしたいと考えました。
目のパーツにアクセスするためにボディとヘッドを分解するのは、手間がかかりすぎて価値がありませんでした。この部分にアクセスするには、あまりにも大げさな作業でした…。

アイリングの型を作ったのですが、固定するためにペグに引っ掛ける、それぞれの目の小さなフォーク状の部分が変形してしまいました。接着すればまだ使えますが、結局元のアイリングをオレンジ色に染めて、それを再装着することにしました。
もしこのアイリングをもう一度作るなら、射出成形を試してみようと思います。
