Aibo Recognition is a later aiboware produced specifically for the ERS-210, giving the aibo the ability to not only recognise human faces, but talk and self dock onto the energy station to recharge using the software's station markers and pole as guidance markers.
While impressive, the software lacked functionality and variety otherwise, which makes it difficult to run an Aibo purely on Recognition. Many complain about the voice being irritating and repetitive over time (the voice is different for every localised version of the software). Also because the ERS-210's Energy Station was not designed for self-docking, its success rate at docking is low. It often involves the aibo slamming into the station during many failed attempts and causing scratches to the aibo.
The software is historically important as it served as the basis of key functionality that would later be improved upon and incorporated into the ERS-7.
