Aibo Explorer is an aiboware released alongside the ERS-220 but is also compatible with ERS-210 robots. It gives the aibo a cool, more sci-fi-robot like personality and makes aibo generally more active.
The software's staple feature is the aibo's ability to go into 'Boost Mode' which can be triggered by loud environments and a lot of interaction. In this mode aibo will become hyper, doing many interesting animations such as light dances and handstands. All of aibos movements will also have robotic sound effects added to them.

Other than Boost Mode, Explorer also had Surveillance Mode (where the aibo would actively take pictures while exploring and the Action Training mode found in Aibo Life 2 and Melody Mode found in some ERS-3xx software.
Action Training allows users to create their own skits for AIBO by registering motion to one of three command options- "ACTION ONE", "ACTION TWO", or "ACTION THREE". These actions are created by holding AIBO's front paws in the desired motions.
Explorer is one of the 2xx software that features communication mode, so an aibo running this software can 'talk' to other aibos running Aibo Life 2 and Explorer.
While the software is fully compatible for both ERS-210 and ERS-220, it is highly recommended to run it on a ERS-220 to witness the full effects of the light and movement design.
